Urban Landscape series
In 2017, I started a new series, utilizing the subject of my travels. I have always been drawn to the appearance of cities. Perhaps because I live a certain way, a busyness for the sake of life, that I have lost the ability to feel my surrounding environments. I began to seek inspiration from my travels, wandering in a strange city, viewing and seeing, observing the appearance of a city as elements, trying to make use of what I am interested in. The location and atmosphere is depicted on the surface, and elements in the urban landscape series alters my previous creative method of producing various textures on the canvas as much as possible. It seems that there is no need for vast and diverse textures. Grasping this, I no longer devote myself to perform delicately, but follow the outdoor scene to strike a balance between “desire” and “ability,” trying to retain traces of the painting.
